You can adjust the number ranges table (PE04) to the number before the one you intend to hire to and then run your Hiring action. However you need to do the following:
Determine all the unused numbers.
Ensure all other hiring actions are put on hold until the completion of the clean up exercise.
To knit future re-occurrence in the bud, retrain all hiring administrators on the need to alert you or their support administrators of incomplete hiring actions in the future so the number range can be reset for reuse.
