Reply from Paul Byrne on Apr 17 at 5:16 PM Mike your words ring true with me daily On my last assignment another large consultancy made a total fubar of things I asked the Financial Director why they had chosen a Consultancy who had filled their ranks with graduates. He replied that they needed leadership I asked where to down a blind alley The thing is Mike as I'm sure you well know, anybody who is good enough is doing it for themselves, i.e. Contracting Ed I can only advise that you select individuals rather than consultancies If you insist on a consultancies then ased for CV's of named personel before you engage Those named personel should be there for the duration of the delivery of the project Selecting Contractors has its own pitfalls Ed you need to know what you need and want Have people on board who know what they are talking about to interview the individuals and a Project Manager who knows his/her stuff to deliver You will get it cheaper and faster without excuses Can you get it Fast and Cheap? No Can you get it Cheap and Quality? No Appropiate budget Appropiate Timeframe Appropiate Expectations Appropiate Governance Regards Paul

I have been a Global Trade specialist for over 20 yrs. I have seen a change in the past 10 yrs in the industry where large Service providers like IBM, KPMG, PWC, Accenture, SAP America, SYSTECH, and others do so much damage to a Client's system. they just come in pretending to know the business of global trade. Then they hire "LIARS" and "SHYSTERS" like the infamous Entrypoint, who just wreak havoc on the system and end up blaming the client for all their mistakes. I have seen this not once but over 20+ different clients. Why can't they just be honest and say they do not the business? they may know the GTS system on a high level, but they cannot make it work as the architects had designed it so. they always use all these user exists, overloaded z-tables and even crappy hard coding to things that are already STANDARD functions! Don't they read the Manual or even get a few hours training? every client I go to around the world has issues that should not have been! their systems are a mess. they even learn to live with 30-70% capability for go-lives! no one has a successful go-live anywhere! Why? and still the clients hire these companies again and again. they even hand off their duties and responsibilities, fire the original employees, and then offshore the duties to IBM-India. I am just asking is there anyone left with credibility, responsibility, capability, and integrity? | | Reply to this email to post your response. __.____._ | | Paul Byrne Global Template Rollout Programme Manager | | In the Spotlight Become a blogger at Toolbox.com and share your expertise with the community.
