When you use MM17 or MASS BUS1001 SAP checks that every mandatory field on the material master has a value and that every field which has an value has a valid value (if the value comes from a table), which is not the case when you use MM02. If you read the details of the error message which has been issued in MM17 it will tell you which field(s) on the material master caused the error and stopped the update. You can get to the error message details from within MM17, or use MM90.

Hi experts,
I have a question about MM17.
There are 5,000 material master which price unit need to be changed,when i use the transaction code MM17 to update, the system showed an error," Messages have been issued: number MASS000097000000" and the noticification number is "MK101".And also,the material master was not changed.
After that , I tried to check if there's any authorize I lack with "/OSU53" , but the check is succesful .
So , could anybody give me some advices?
