In our case, the CE 11 does require SO as account assignment. When I tried to change CE to 1, it does not require SO with FSG 054. It has nothing to do with "Post automatically" upon posting. The system error is it is requiring an SO but the business is not to require.

CE category 11 or 1 does not make the account require Sales Order as account assignment.
FSG 054 in your case requires SO item and if you want to post manual sales, the one difference between your manual account and automatic account should be the check "post automatically' in the GL account master.
If you change the field status group as suggested earlier, then you cannot make revenue posting that needs to adjust to sales order item (very likely as your existing revenue account requires SO item)
