Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I should have framed my question better. I need to test how Safety Stock
and Safety Time functions in SAP, and I need to take 3 cases and do it. If
I just enter a service level in the MRP2 view, will that automatically
change the Safety Stock value? What are the other parameters that affect
safety stock values?
By the way This question is for SAP R/3.

Your help is appreciated!

Thank you,
Divya

Subject: Automatic Safety Stock Calculation

Hi,

1) If you have APO, then figures can be uploaded onto this and by
background transfer process, FC can be taken to R3.
1-a) On the other hand, if you do not have APO, then the FC has to be had
in some other application (like XL) and copied into R3 by any middleware
program at regular intervals
2) MRP setting in MM has to be "PD" for R3 to generate make/buy volumes or
"XO" if you have APO
3) Safety stock can be either entered directly into MRP2 at MM level or
through MRP run ( could not get this question clearly )

Hope the above is useful.
Skanda
