You can try using the same material but as a "category V" item, in which case you can use any cost element you wish. But I do not know how this is going to help you since when the actual consumption takes place, you will be using the material under its original number in which case the actual costs will be recorded under a different cost element. You will end up with unnecessary variances on both the cost elements.

Unfortunately, I am using a material with item category "M" and buy outs with IC "V" and I want to populate cost element manually for materials, is that possible?
