Replace the new kernel 71 onto exe and exenew to resolve the issue
Also start the shadow instance manually
Go to /usr/sap/F43/SOLMANUP/abap/bin
And execute ./SAPup startshd
(for stopping also we need to use as ./SAPup stopshd)

Later start the upgrade tool and continue

Subject: Upgrade stuck at START_SHDI_FIRST shadow instance is uable to start

Dear gurus,

We are facing error during START_SHDI_FIRST phase.

The error message is :

> 13:57:52 UPGRADE/SHADOW: START OF PHASE START_SHDI_FIRST
Locking SAP system ...

ERROR: Starting system failed, rc=0
To analyse the errors during start of shadow instance,
view files 'STARTSFI.LOG' and 'DEVTRACE.LOG'
in directory 'D:\usr\sap\put\log'
Repeat phase until shadow instance is started
and you can log on instance number '01'.

The log file shows the message:

Call to function module "UPG_IS_SHADOW_SYSTEM" by RFC failed (error-status
"-3")

When we try to log on to shadow system through gui using user ddic in client
000it gives message:

password logon not possible too many failed attempts.

The problem seems to be that user ddic is locked in shadow system .We have
tried SAP* to login also but it gives the same message.

How can we unlock the locked user

Kindly help us...
