Hi,
As Tom has mentioned, the Start Date in IT0000 is the start date of the respective personnel action. DOJ can be determined from the start date of hiring action. However, I would advise to use technical hiring date in IT41 as the start date for hiring action may not be accurate.
Take for instance, some organization does not re-use personnel number for re-hiring or transfer case. In such cases, the technical hiring date in IT41 will better reflect the actual hiring date rather than start date in IT0000. In addition, computations like length of service typically reference to IT41 instead of IT0000.
