Currently, my DEV & QAS are in single box with different instance. Now I have to do a system copy by backup/restore method, due to unavailable space in the system my client had given a new server with the same configuration of above.
My question is, if I install sap & configure in the new system, and do the backup/restore. How will the system will be matched the DEV & PRD.
I mean currently DEV & QAS are having same host name, trans-dir, with 192.1.1.1 IP. if I install new system for QAS, it will have new hostname, new trans-dir & new IP.
After this can I stop QAS instance alone in the OLD system.?
Please help me in this.

Am gonna do a backup/restore method from PRD to QAS. because our QAS doesn't have new data to test. Current src & trg syst is
source = ECC6 PRD [SP level 19 & kernal level 185] + win2003 sp2 + mssql2005 sp2
target = ECC6 PRD [SP level 19 & kernal level 185] + win2003 sp1 + mssql2005 sp1
quest is -
1.can i take backup frm src & restore directly to trg OR i have to apply the SP's of win & mssql to trg & then restore?
2.my backup of mssql is going to be night backup, so no user would be logged and am gonna take simple recovery mode with full, so two files will get backup; .MDF & .LDF, other than this any other files necessary to restore
3.if restore is success, what is the next step,i mean how to log into ECC6 syst and other steps.
Please help me in this. |
