You configure down payment in Asset Accounting ONLY if you want the
depreciation to start from the date of first down payment. There is no need
for it to pass thru an AuC. This is the standard SAP functionality as it
is designed. There are, probably, some unique requirements wherein the down
payment has to be depreciated, which is why it was so designed.
Unless you require the depreciation to start from the first down payment (it
will set both the capitalization date and the depreciation start date based
on the first down payment transaction), you should not configure it and use
it in AA. You must, instead use the simple standard down payment in AP (of
course, this will not reflect in AW01N).
Again, many or most users or consultants do not understand this feature or
process well enough. And, RTOUZ is the only one in this thread who seems to
understand the issue.

AA.
