Hello,
The system date is defaulted as the Key Date when you start Organizational Management. I believe you can change this; it's off one of the menus in OM but I can't remember right off the top of my head. If you want, I believe you can set the relationship using transaction PP01 too.
Here is a link to SAP Help regarding tasks and such. My guess is, once you change the Key Date to 1/1/2011, you'll be able to assign the way you want to:

Hello
I was completing exercise for org unit creation when i encountered problem with execution of the org.structure.I have created my org unit thru creation in easy access now completed the unit however there is a question regarding validity dates when i assigned tasks for each position it would not let me save under the same date as system defaulted to save on 1-22-11. I created everything under 1-1-2011 so how come the tasks defaulted under current date and would not save under the beg 1-1-11 my whole org unit is save under 1-1-11. I am at the last step to execute however my org unit is never there to execute however it appears under expert mode simple mode and org and staffing. How can this be fixed?
I went in Org management , Info sys, Org unit, org structure, org struc with position and could not execute.
