Hi there,
Sergey is 100% correct. WERKS (Plant) is one of the Enterprise Structure fields, and you have other fields that are dependent on it. This is why you have to change it in a Personnel Action rather than just updating it. During so, SAP will check/change the values in other HR fields that are mapped in your IMG.
If you're wanting to do this because of a customer requirement, suggest strongly that it would break the standard way to keep the integrity and consistency of HR data, and it'll create more problems down the road than it will solve. Tell them too, that in the worst possible scenario (although not likely to happen) the data could get messed up enough where no one would be able to correct using the standard transactions, and the only way to fix it would be some IT-developed solution.

I understand that field P0001-WERKS is normally only displayed, and that the value of this field is updated via a personnel action.
I'm able to hide the field using T588M (screen modification).
But I'm unable to open the field by using T588M and putting the radio button to "edit" (third column) or "mandatory" (second column). The field appears as display in those cases.
I'm using Dynpro 2000 (also alternative-dynpro 2000).
Do I have to use a different Dynpro?
Do I have to build an own Dynpro?
I had a short look at program SAPFP50M but could not find a hint (I'm not a programmer).
