By the way, is there any way we can copy the storage location of sub-item from the reference documents? I found if we create a return order base on a billing document, the storage location of main item could be copied from billing document, but the sub-item is blank in storage location.

Storage location does not get automatically determined in a sales order line. You would require to use Userexit to achieve it.
Although slocation get determined automatically during delivery creation and get stored at line item level.
