Problem may be with the current control file so go with rman recovery, one missing file will stop the backup from the number from where the missing file is.. use ur old control file.

If this was really an offline backup and that restore was well done, you would not need to recover database at all. This is not normal. you had a problem during backup or restore. you need to find out which of them is causing the problem.

to check if database was DOWN during backup, check alert_SID.log and match this to your backup utility time stamps.
