We started with using shipping condition to indicate the shipping company/method back in 2001 when we first went with SAP. Now we have a project to push this down to line level, as it's a major limitation in some of the other things we want to do (we have intercompany drop ships from multiple plants, some of which use limited shipping conditions as part of an interface to 3PL for example).

We're planning to use shipping type at line level as well, which is now a reasonable effort...if you're starting from scratch, then I would definitely avoid anything that limits you to header data only.
