P* and M* mrp types are set up to precisely do what you want.

Hi Denise, thanks for your reply.

I probably should've explained a little bit more what we're trying to do.

What we want to accomplish is :

1. We want to do Forecasting, that's why we selected MRP Type VV. I believe if we select some of those P* or M* MRP Types, you can't do Forecasting.

2. We want to use that Forecast to create Independent Requirements via Demand Management.

3. We want Sales Requirements (Orders / Deliveries) to go against those Independent Requirements as well as against the Available Qty.

Does that make sense?

It seems like a pretty simple scenario; any other MRP Type you can think of that would help us accomplish this? or a different Requirement Class / Type and/or Strategy Group?

Any ideas how we could accomplish this? I would really appreciate any help you could provide.

Thanks

Forecast based planning is not typically used with strategy 40. VV does not consider sales order requirements.

P* or M* MRP types are more common.

Note: simply changing the MRP type will not update the existing customer orders/deliveries as the demand type is based on the MRP setting at the time of the sales order entry, but new orders should have the correct demand type.

I provided a solution on how to update existing orders some time ago.

When I go to MD04 there are two columns for each MRP Element, the "Rec./reqd.qty" and the "Available qty". For the Customer Requirements, "CusOrd" and/or "Delvry" nothing is displayed under the "Available qty" column.

Why is that?

For all other MRP Elements it does indicate if it's a Receipt or an Issue and it shows how that Receipt or Issue impacts the Available Qty.; but for the Sales Requirements it doesn't.

My Material has MRP Type VV Forecast Based Planning, it has Strategy 40 and this Strategy determines Requirement Type KSV with Requirement Class 050.

Is there anything I'm missing in the Requirement Class definition or maybe in my Material Master or should I be using a different Requirement Class and/or Requirement Type?

I would appreciate any ideas you may have for this to happen.
