SAP comes delivered with "Libraries" which contain the information for various tables that Report Painter needs to write reports from the table. (there also are reports that are delivered). You can look at libraries with GR23 transaction. Use the dropdown list after entering the t-code to see what libraries are delivered. After selecting a library, click on the header and you will see the table. Click on characteristics or Key Figures to see the characteristics and key figures that will be available from the table for report painter. characeteristics and key figures that are checked are available. you can make changes with GR22.... but probably you should clone the delivered library (use GR21) to one you edit, and leave the delivered library alone so that any delivered reports will still work. imo delivered reports may be good to get you started on writing a report...but rarely meet needs of specific company. Another tcode that might give you some info on tables used in report painter is GR5L. this is a report catalog. put in all libraries... (001-zzz) and you will get a list of all of the report groups (a group is a bunch of reports from same library) and what table they are run from, and what library they are in.
