No, this isn't built into the MM side of the shop. I would think that you
need either custom programs to edit specific fields, or perhaps transaction
variants (SHDO) that make fields read-only. Other than that, you're looking
at a boatload of modifications.

Yes, more granular than M_MATE_STA...we already have an object Z_MATE_MAT
that checks on a combination of statuses and authorization group (for the
whole material).
But this issue really needs to be on the field level, for example,
we allow a user to run MM02, on view "Basic data 1" ...but then we only want
to give him change access to one specific field, like "old material number".
The others he should only display.
I know it's very granular, but because the same principle is possible for
customers / vendors / GL accounts... I hoped the same existed for Materials
(?)
