I know APO will do what we want, but before we crack that nut, I want to know what options are available in R/3 for multi-plant planning and load balancing between plants? For example, we have three plants. When we get demand, we want to be able to look at capacity and/or component availability in each plant and decide to which plant we send the order for manufacturing. Or we may decide later to move orders from one plant to another, in whole or in part, due to component availability, capacity, etc. We typically use make-to-order strategies, which I imagine complicates this scenario.
