Dave:
I do have a document that is confidential and cannot make it available.
But briefly
IM you would use if you do not want bin level control (only storage location
level inventory control).
Lean - You would want to use mostly in the case of fixed bin storage where
you do not want the complication of WM but still want to use the Transfer
order features for picking etc.
WM - is for bin level control and can be done decentralized or run from
within the ERP. Decentralized would be good for situations where you would
want to keep WM running independent of ERP in situations such as 24/7
warehouses.
EWM is of two types one which is in SCM the new WM solution for distribution
centres and offers more functionalities but still a year or two to go to
become best of breed application. The other EWM which used to be part of ERP
(WM plus TRM).
Please email me if you need more details. siva at novelcg dot com.
