Roy,
Apparently, our bank cares as they have returned ACH payments saying
wrong type of account type sent.

Hi,
you are not telling me anything I do not know. I have used
this field in France for example where it is mandatory as a
validity check. But it is not mandatory in the USA and I can
not see the use of the information there. Who cares if it's
a checking account or a savings account. As long as it
accepts the payment so what?
