SAP Library - Find your answers

I am struggling with the rationale for this business requirement. Why
would they possibly care? Wouldn't they be more interested in asset
class information if anything? And if they want the detailed
information, then that is what the asset accounting module is designed
to provide. They can get YTD information out of an asset balance report.
And what are the asset accountants doing that they accounting department
feels the need to monitor at this level?

Also, during the depreciation run, SAP will summarise data if at all
possible. For instance, if you have 2 assets depreciating to the same GL
and cost centre, it will be 1 line item in a GL posting, so what they
are asking for would require a major modification to the depreciation
program, which is inadvisable.

I just had a similar issue with my client, and pushed back on the
business requirement, as it was absurd and unnecessary.

Hi,
The requirement is that the accounting dept people are unable to
identify which line item in the acc. dep GL belongs to which asset based
on the description or any detail in the line item. The only way to find
it out is through AFBP which is a manual process
