If you look in any NetWeaver installation guide it will tell you the recommended file system layout. For distributed or highly-available systems you will need to mount the /sapmnt file system on all servers that make up the system. You will also need to mount the /usr/sap/trans file system on all app servers of the system. Failing to do so will result in issues.
