Hi,
) who does the SAPs ( SAP sizing) ? is it the basis person or Hardware vendor or the SAP sales ?

--> usually Hardware Vendor

2) Is SAPs performed before the SAP license is purchased ? or After SAP license and before procuring the hardware ?

--> it does not really matter.

3) What is SD- 3 tier and 2- tier in standard benchmark ?

--> I am unsure about the maening of SD in this context...

4) Is it appropriate to perform sizing after the Hardware is procured ? I have the details of the server Ram/HDD/ OS disk size but the IT team is asking for SAPs

--> No, this is a bad idea. If you buy hardware and you cannot add more CPU or memory, you would need to buy another new server

Subject: SAP Sizing, License, Benchmark For A Small And Mid Size Business

SAPS for small and mid size business:

Hi Experts,

Please help me answer the below:

I'm going to work on a implementation project for
1) dev/qas/prd for Ecc ( 3 systems )
2)dev/qas/prd for Po (3 Systems)
3) Solman

There would be 7 sap servers. Prod Ecc would be cluster. this is for a small business where there would be 100 users.

I would like to know the below :

1) who does the SAPs ( SAP sizing) ? is it the basis person or Hardware vendor or the SAP sales ?
2) Is SAPs performed before the SAP license is purchased ? or After SAP license and before procuring the hardware ?
3) What is SD- 3 tier and 2- tier in standard benchmark ?
4) Is it appropriate to perform sizing after the Hardware is procured ? I have the details of the server Ram/HDD/ OS disk size but the IT team is asking for SAPs

As per my understanding SAPs is derived by keeping many things in mind how many users would be logging in to server and I have an Idea on 100 SAPs equals 6000 dialog steps per hour or 256 MB ram.
I also know that I can calculate this using the quick sizer tool. I would like to know if a basis person shall calculate this what all details shall I know before I calculate .( High available users/business time/number of user license and all these are required to calculate the SAPs) Could some one help me with a standard format which I can send to the Client to get the details ?

Thanks,
Abhi
