If you see companies running MB51 thousands of times per month, then you
should also be able to see who are the big users. Next step go talk to
those persons and find you why they are running MB51 so many times. Your
original question seemed to suggest possible solutions without knowing the
real problem.

Technically MB51 can be automated using a Background Job, use Tcode SM36
to define the job, use program RM07DOCS (Program for MB51) with a suitable
variant, for the ABAP program in one of your job steps. As for automating
additional follow on steps based on the result of running MB51, your
discovery session will have to determine if that is needed or possible.

Subject: MB51 - Validation Example

I understand that MRP would perform perform inventory related validation, and that was bad example of validation.

My question - I see companies running MB51 thousands of time per month! Why?
What business process requires material documents to be viewed sooo many times? They must be looking and validation something that could be automated... I'm just having a hard time explaining what that might be.

Thanks for the help!
