Reply from KenThomson on Jan 23 at 9:43 PM MB51 is reporting on material documents, typically for a material code + plant but sometimes for other selection criteria as well.
If you wish to run some checking reports that are looking for certain situations and want them to run automatically say overnight and only report when they find something, if there isn't a SAP standard report that meets your needs you can always create a checking report in the SAP query area.
In SAP query you can build your own infoset, set of tables that have valid relationships or links to each other, and then you can make your own report from that infoset with whatever selection fields you so desire from those tables.
We use the SAP query fairy extensively for various master data as well as transactional data reporting.

I understand that MRP would perform perform inventory related validation, and that was bad example of validation.
My question - I see companies running MB51 thousands of time per month! Why?
What business process requires material documents to be viewed sooo many times? They must be looking and validation something that could be automated... I'm just having a hard time explaining what that might be.
