You cannot change the UoM if the item has any stock history or pending demand/orders. This is to keep all history in one unit of measure - history in two units would be meaningless.

You can add one or more Alternative UoMs and you can also specifiy, if you wish, an Alternative UoM separately in each business area (using material master fields) - Sales UoM, Plant UoM (unit of issue), Warehouse UoM (if you use WM). So you can view stock or make movements in the altenative UoM in those areas. However Base UoM is used by Finance functions.

Subject: Changing Article Base Unit of Measure

Hi,

In IS Retail, i want to change the Base unit base of measure for an article for which only PO is created and not yet inwarded. I tested by giving Alternative unit of measure in material master but after inwarding the stock shows only the base unit of measure and also for all the corresponding movements. So is there any other option to change the base unit of measure?
