You cannot change the base unit if any stock already exist at plant, dependent reservations already exist, planned order & PR exist, Material is a bill of material, etc. However, you can see the stock details in the alternative unit of measure in MMBE stock overview report if you give alternative unit in the Unit of measure column. If your PO unit is different from base unit you can give UOM in the order unit column in the material master (purchase view).
