hi, the answer that Jim provided is the right approach. For this to happen you need to have activated split valuation in the material where you can have different prices per valuation type which basically allows you to bring your used spare parts back to inventory with different price.

If there is no split valuation and you haven't issued the material to functional location (i.e. through work order) and you want to simply update the inventory with different price, I would suggest that you use movement type 561 which will allow you to enter amount so you can potentially bring back the material with different price. If you're going through this route, I would suggest to test and check with accounting entries and make sure it's OK with the accounting folks.

Subject: Return Used Spares From Functional Location To Storage Location

Hi,

I have a request from management to return 4 USED materials from a Machine within my plant(functional location) to my storage location. I created new material numbers for the 4 used materials as the value has decreased. It was calculated at 2/3 of the original buying value) as per Management. How do I book these spares into my store so that deduction(saving) shows on the machine from where it came, to an increase in my store stock level?
