Hi,
Below the steps for Kernal Upgrade.
Download latest patches
1) UNCAR files into a directory called newrun.
sapcar -xvf "*.SAR"
2) Schedule downtime and inform users.
3) Shutdown Application server, CI and DB.
4) Stop all the services including saposcol.
5) Backup the oldrun it is there in *usr/sap/sid/sys/exe* directory.
6) Copy the latest uncared kernels into the run directory
7) Start services, sap, run t-code : SICK any problems it will show.
