Yes, you are correct about performance of ITSMobile -vs- SAPConsole. Console is much faster. We tried ITS when we first launched SAP, but it was 2-5 times slower in response times -vs- traditional telnet sessions we used on our legacy system. The issue was with the device having to generate the webpage taking too much time. We never saw a problem in transaction volume but we never got that far either.
We were forced to drop ITS and implement SAPConsole to address that performance issue.
It may perform better now with the faster CPU's and increased memory on newer devices but it's hard to beat the performance of telnet.
