True. We are currently using this way only. I am only trying to clean up
the system and this is one exercise which I am trying to complete

Subject: Changing Unit of measurement

If your new UoM can be related to your old UoM by some normal arithmetic relationship (eg EA = 100KG) then you can leave the original UoM in place and set Sales UoM, Production UoM, Purchase UoM, IM UoM, and WM UoM as you new UoM. The new UoM will always then be presented by the system in those areas, but the base UoM will remain as the original. This can work in certain circumstances and we have used this strategy successfully. It saves having to create an new item and keeps all the history of the existing item intact. But if you need your base UoM to change then this approach won't/can't work.
Hopethishelps
