I don't think there are any checks done in MM06. The archiving program MM_MATNR does the checks before it archives the material. There may be some help in table MSTA which shows the material status - some indication of where it has been used.
MM_MATNR before it can archive a material checks for
1 Purchase Orders
2 Schedule Agreements
3 Purchase requisitions
4 Info records
5 Planned orders
6 Independent requirements (VSF's)
7 Production Orders
8 Sales orders
9 Bills of Materials
10 Used in Bills of Materials
11 Reservations / dependent requirements
12 WM Quants or transfer requirements
12 WM Stock Transfers from or to
13 Run Schedule Header (if you used SAP V4.5 or earlier)
14 Assignments
15 Used in Product Group
16 Used in routing / rate routing
17 Has a routing
18 Has stock in any category in current or previous accounting period
19 Physical Inventory blocking indicator is set
20 Physical inventory indicator is set in current or previous period
21 Source List exists
22 Quota arrangement exists
23 Costing data exists
24 Consignment stock record exists
25 Sales Order stock record exists
26 Dependent batch records exist
27 Dependent special stocks at the customer or vendor exist
28 Dependent consignment price records exist
29 Manufacturer parts exist
30 stock value for previous year still exists
31 Material is used in inspection lots
If you go into transaction SARA and enter MM_MATNR as the object name then hit the Network Graphic icon you can see all the areas of associated data which have to be archived before the material itself can be archived.
