While Nikki has a great point about data storage, as long as that is not a factor, I stand behind my response. SAP provides standard asset reports that are not as useful as those they give us in the A/P, A/P or G/L areas.
Of course, if you are using BW, then you can create some good reports using the accounting document line item data cube, regardless of the line item display setting in your SAP ECC system.

SAP recommends that line item display be turned off for GL accounts for fixed asset reconciliation accounts. How does one extract the data that FBL3N normally would show if line item display was active for fixed asset reconciliation accounts?
