Subject: R3 System Copy With Similar Hostname, DB and SAP Version

Hello,

I have purchased a new box of IBM Power server. I need to make a copy of my existing SAP server. I will use the same hostname, Oracle 11.2 with SAP ECC 6.0.

The only change is in AIX ver. old is 5.3 and new would be 6.1. I understand if the AIX version was also same I could have just restored AIX, Oracle and SAP file system to new server.

But now I have installed new AIX 6.1 to new box and have restored all oracle file systems /oracle, /usr/sap/SID and /sapmnt filesystems.

Would this work? Since AIX is freshly installed and not restored.

Suggest.

Thanks.

Kapil.
