Reply from Nikki Klein on Jul 29 at 10:57 AM Hi Janet, It sounds to me as though you are looking to create and use a COA which is a subset of your global operating chart of accounts, and assign it to new company codes as you create them (instead of assigning the global COA). I don't recommend this approach. Keep in mind, for example, that all company codes within a single controlling area must share the same chart of accounts. If your company codes use different charts of accounts, then you need multiple controlling areas. It is better to extend into the new company code only those GL accounts it needs, using the same global chart of accounts. If your global chart of accounts has (say) 1000 GL accounts, but your new company code needs only 500 of them, then just extend only those 500. Nikki

Is it common practice for a large corporation to create a COA template so that every new company setup will have the same basic set of GL accounts (instead of assigning the entire global COA to a new company?) If it is, where in SAP that allows you to setup COA tempates for different types of legal entities setup. Thank you so much for your help. | | Reply to this email to post your response. __.____._ | In the Spotlight Become a blogger at Toolbox.com and share your expertise with the community.
