Reply from MHoetjes on Mar 27 at 5:18 PM Hi Kerry, You are correct about this problem. With the standard SAP functionality you can run into problems with deriving roles for non organization values like the movement types. My solution for this problem is using third party software like CSI Role Build & manage. with this CSI tool you can derive roles (both single and composite) for organizational and non organizational values. The values can be restricted per authorization object values and you do NOT have to promote non organizational values to organizational values in your SAP system first. The values are maintained in a central overview sheet in the tool and with one click on the button the roles are derived with the correct values. If you would like to know more, just shout! Kind regards, Meta

One stumbling block I have with derived is how to handle movement types for transaction MIGO. Unless we are doing something specific such as receive a purchase order or production order, we are very conservative in handing out movement types. I see this a stumbling block to the new design. I like to hear how other people have found solutions to this. Thanks.
