It could depend from customizing.
The depreciation data can be set as default in the asset class setting but it is a possibility not mandatory. This often happen when you have more company codes, needed different setting and sharing same chart of depreciation. In this case no default setting are fixed and each user have to fill all depreciation info in master data.
