CATS changes are added to temporary tables such as CatsHR and CatsPS, even if the original entries have been transferred and/or removed. These new records are then transferred as well.

A change to a CATS entry involves cancelling the original entry (a new record in the tables above) and creating a new entry with the new record.

Basically, it's safe and recommended to keep these tables small for performance. CATR only removes entries that are safe to delete (i.e., transferred or those that do not need to be transferred).

Subject: Entries that have been transferred/deleted using CATR

Using CATR, if entries that have been transferred are deleted, what happens if those time entries are then changed/cancelled? At that point, there is no existing record in the tables to cancel...

Example, time entered for work dates 3/1/2013 - 3/15/2013. In October, CATR - reorg is run for March 2013. In November, the time sheet is changed for work dates 3/10 - 3/14/2013. There are no records in the tables to cancel.

We were set up to keep the tables as clean as possible, and I am thinking based on several similar scenarios I have seen, that this is not the way to go. (clean as possible = anything older than 3 months gets deleted/reorg'd).

Thoughts?
