For your first question - system determines based on the movement type & acitivation of 2step confirmation under - Set Up 2-step Picking for Transfer Requirements (configuration).
For second question - Not clear which indicator you wanted to adopt during 2nd TO confirmation. Please clarify in detail..

2 questions about 2 step confirmations:
We do 2 step confirmations, when you look at the TO after the 1st step (the pick) you see a Yellow Triangle once you complete the second step you see a green square. Does anyone know how SAP determines if one or both confirmations have been completed?
Second question- When I confirm the first step short, when I get to the second step I want the the indicator to adopt from the first step to default, where is that controlled.
