Reply from LCC352 on Jul 17 at 1:36 PM You don't state what you're coming from, so I will assume you're on something around 4.6. FI/CO usually is the first thing to work properly. If you're going to go to New G/L in the upgrade, that is really a project on its own. SD/MM will depend upon how much custom code you might have in these areas. My company was heavily customized in the SD/MM area. If you stuck to plain vanilla SAP, you're more likely to have a smoother transition. You will have to upgrade your GUI to another level. That could be an issue if you have Citrix or other types of external servers that will all need to come up to current level together. You may have some security issues. If you are not role based now, you need to be in 6.0. That could require some major design changes. Check to make sure that the transactions you're using today exist in the 6.0 environment. If not, you may have to retrain users, or, you could have interfaces/programs utilizing call transaction technology to a transaction that is no longer supported. If possible, get away from any flat-file type interfaces you might have and go to standard BAPI or IDOC. It will save you time and TCO in the long run Look into tools that will allow you to understand what will work in 6.0 and what won't. Are you going to go to Unicode at the same time? Much of your code may have syntax errors. I don't think I'm supposed to mention product names here, so I won't. They're out there. Do not underestimate the amount of time it will take for you to test everything properly. - Lou
