Reply from ebushman on May 23 at 11:42 PM Sunny, Lee's warnings should be strongly considered. That said, I've worked with hundreds of companies that have activated the payment card processing functionality in SAP and that are storing cards on the customer master records - using Tokenization to remove the card number from SAP itself and store it outside the SAP database. However, I'm confused by your statement that there are fields missing which are required to process the credit card transactions. What fields are you referring to? SAP allows you to store the card type, card number (replace that with a token!), expiration date, cardholder name and a designation if the card is a preferred (default) card for use. The only fields I can think of which you may be referring to are related to certain cards in the UK which require an issue date and issue number. Are there other fields you're referring to? Without extensive controls including database encryption and constant monitoring you could find yourself with a bottomless pit of costs all associated with additional controls and litigation. I'd think very carefully about this direction and make sure to include legal and Privacy data security expertise.
