and when selecting Microsoft Excel Icon, excel sheet is appearing without any records!

There are 2 options - Spreadsheet and Local File on the toolbar. Use the local file (ctrl + Shift + F9) and then select spreadsheet. Save as .xls. Let us know if this works.
