Theoretically you are right. Even practically works like a charm if we are talking about straight forward ABAP.
Unfortunately my case is a SAP Query called from a report, which doesn't know about this basic rule. Nothing but 'red tapes' when trying to clone any of the components. Somehow doesn't want to pick up the changes.

We've upgraded from 4.7 to ECC 6 and since then the dynamic selections for EKKN have disappeared.
