I was looking for similar information as we have an index on a GL table and every system we that have imported the index it has taken over 2 hours.
I opened a message with SAP and have not really received an answer.

Two hours is more than enough to create that Z index.

Test this in a non-prod system and you will see that this should take less than 30 minutes.
