Hi, My client wanted to depreciate all the depreciation at once with out using scrap functionality. Scenario: bought an asset 01.04.2011 with 3600/- and useful life 3 years monthly dep. is 100. posted depreciation till august then unexpectedly want to post all the depreciation amount at once. Is there any way to do the same. Options which I am looking: 1. change depreciation key - we maintained depreciation key in asset class.. so system will not allow to change the depreciation key in asset master data 2. Can I reduce useful life? Regards Kiran

May I know the reason for your wanting to make a change at the end of six months? a. Has the asset undergone an unforeseen calamity that renders it useless by Oct 2011 itself? If this is the case , you could scrap the asset so that all depreciation planned for the future is accounted as loss on scrap and the asset gets de-activated. b. Do you want to accelerate the depreciation ( for other reasons, if any) during Oct 2011 itself? If so, may be you could change the depreciation key suitably , perhaps even on time dependent basis , of the master record and do a planned depreciation within the changed period ( say like 100 % depreciation in 2011 itself). Alternatively, you could also do an unplanned depreciation during Oct 2011 and have the asset written off your books by Oct 2011. It all depends on what the exact situation is and how you want to handle it. Regards VidhyaDhar | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N.
