It is NOT necessary to reorganize a SQL Server database. This is not supported by SAP or Microsoft either. It does impact the performance of the database. The database is designed to be self tuning. Sent from my Windows Phone

He told me that reorganizing the database, defragmenting and cleaning up indexes etc was something that needs to be done an on regular basis or else performance might be in danger. I found a note on this (we are on MS-SQL 2005) : 159316 which clearly states: Note that we are talking about a SQL Server database. On other database platforms, a reorganization might be more helpful. However, on SQL Server this is in most cases neither necessary nor helpful. Reorganizations often lead to disadvantages like unnecessary downtimes, lock situations, terminations or other kinds of problems. SAP generally advises against performing regular and time-consuming reorganizations of your SQL Server database. The SQL DBA however insists on this on the SAP ECC6 database. Because of this note, I'm reluctant. Am I missing something here? Should we or should we not? Txs Answat | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N.
