Thank you, for your replies. Your comments are well-understood. Nevertheless, in the specific case I'm confronted with, opening the field is a valid option. As we do not want to open the field for dialog purpose but in a very much controlled batch-input situation. Coming back to the question. I had a look at the screen painter (SE51) and the different Dynpros of Programm MP000100. As an example Dynpro 2100 has field P0001-WERKS marked as Input. Your advice of whether to - use Dynpro 2100 as alternative Dynpro, - choose and change one of the other existing Dynpros, - create an own Dynpro will be very much appreciated.

WERKS (Plant) is one of the Enterprise Structure fields, and you have other fields that are dependent on it. This is why you have to change it in a Personnel Action rather than just updating it. During so, SAP will check/change the values in other HR fields that are mapped in your IMG. If you're wanting to do this because of a customer requirement, suggest strongly that it would break the standard way to keep the integrity and consistency of HR data, and it'll create more problems down the road than it will solve. Tell them too, that in the worst possible scenario (although not likely to happen) the data could get messed up enough where no one would be able to correct using the standard transactions, and the only way to fix it would be some IT-developed solution. --Dave | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author.
