I have seen many fields used by various business units, however none using the EAN field which is set up for an EAN #.
Try using External Material Group, which for me allows the business to have an internal Material Group and the UN external one.

Good Morning SAP Experts,
We are trying to input United Nations Standard Product and Services Codes
(UNSPSC) into the material master in SAP. These codes are numeric and eight
digits in length - example 40000000. I have tried mapping these to the
"International Article Number" EAN/UPC number field on the Basic Data 1
screen on the material master but it is being rejected. Does anyone know
what the UNSPSC code equivalent field in SAP material master? Thanks for all
the input.
