Hi

AUC is a semi asset (probably containing RM and other value additions since
you fabricate the intended final asset indoors ). Let us say you buy wood to
fabricate 4 chairs yourself. Wood forms the AUC and it is not functional
with any utility as chair. Such assets are not depreciated.

You settle the AUC to another class such as furniture when you fabricate the
chairs. When you have made the 4 chairs ( comprising 4 assets ) AUC is
settled ( you write a distribution rule and settle). The chairs are fully
functional and are subject to depreciation.

Therefore AUC is not fit for depreciation.

Subject: Posting a manual transaction to AUC

AUC or CWIP is not considered as an asset until it is settled through
Internal order or Project system...so in your case Asset Under Construction
never really requires to be depreciated in real time transaction of the
business...Depreciation area does not come into account.
